"Your Favorites"...Just for Fun-Challenge #3

So, this is an old 6x12 layout! The idea behind this was putting all my "Favorites" on one layout. Favorites meaning manufacturers, types of embellishments, photo pieces, photo ideas, etc. In this layout, I cut up different strips of paper; paper reflecting my favorite manufacturers. The number strip is 7Gypsies -- love their adhesive ribbon + the manufacturer. I had a love for brads from Making Memories, the "@" is Thickers Chipboard, the photo ideas: the index photos and the "self-portraits"...you get the idea!

What I love about this challenge the most is...since Wena + Nette are fairly new to this hobby, it'll be nice to reflect back on this layout to see what were your favorites in the "beginning". A couple of years from now...or even 1-year from now...your favorites "may" be the same or not. I know, looking back at this layout, mine has changed. Jenny, has yours? :)

When creating this layout, don't forget to use techniques too; for example, Maya Mist! :) I am 2 layouts behind. Nope, haven't created one for this challenge yet...but I will.

Enjoy!!!

So NOT Challenge-Related...

Hello Ladies!! So, I'm waaay behind on doing the challenges. I know, I know. Nette, go ahead and post your challenge. I had so much going on this past weekend...my head is about to burst. I think I'm a little over my head on projects! This past weekend, I was introduced to these very, very cute boutique-y fabric stores. Umm, yes, I have a sewing project. I have all the materials...I just need to wash the fabric + iron + cut the pattern out. I also had a 2-hour tutorial by one of my scrap-girlfriends who went completely digital...in scrapbooking that is. And since D gave me some Adobe products for our anniversary, I felt the need to utilize them...:) So, of course, I have to share, right?

Here's my very first take on digital scrapbooking -- critiques welcomed! :) No worries, I'm not turning my back on paper + glue but this just brings me back when I did CAD work when I was once earning a "live" paycheck. Tee-hee!
Enjoy,

Edited: For some reason, the layout won't enlarge when
you click on it. I don't know why that is?? If you do, let me know and I'll change it. xo

challenge #2: cutting up patterned paper:
like papa, like son

here's what i started with

here's the end result

i really wanted to title it "like father, like son", but i was running low on the thickers, lol. i had to cut up a 'g' to make that 'o'

i bought the orange felt embellishments @ the scrapbook expo with j, they are SO thick!

i love this stamp! it's not a very good shot, but i used adhesive squares to pop it up

...and SO, once again, this was difficult for me (i didn't scraplift). clearly i didn't use THAT much paper, but i did cut it up :) it's actually 2 pieces i cut up then pasted together. i don't know why...the paper actually came that way, lol. did i say i hate being the rookie (how long do i get to use that one)? i think my biggest challenge is not so much the actual layout or placement of the images or paper, but the embellishing part. and colors...i am really trying to get away from being too "matchy". i guess it's something i will learn with time. i haven't scrapped in a few days and i think my mind is on closing out the end of the school year. thank goodness my SC kit is on it's way...did i mention i bought all (yes all) 3 add-on kits? i need to get back into the groove! :)

cheers! W

My Petals

Inspired by Ali E. Weekend Creative: Naming Your Petals

I thought it would be neat to scrap what I'm into at this very moment. I could look back at this years from now and see if my interests have changed or not. What roles am I playing? We'll just have to wait and see!

This was definitely a fun challenge. But not thee challenge I'm proposing. My turn is after Abby, I think? I'm still trying to think of one. But feel free to do this one too. I'd like to see your petals!

Nette

My 1st Maya Mist & Patterned Paper Challenge

Since I didn't have ANY templates for my new green Maya Mist, I tried to use up the Heidi Swapp chipboard shapes from the S.C. April kit. I was just playing around with the Maya Mist and sprayed away. This was my very first spray and I didn't want it to go to waste. And ta-da...a quick layout. I just wanted to experiment.

One more thing, thanks gals, for the star ticket and the mini paper clip. It came in handy! Plus I found a teeny tiny star punch I bought decades ago. How cool is that!?

Yes, it's very difficult for me to cut, let alone, tear beautifully printed paper. I almost want to frame every sample I fall in love with or have a keepsake of it somewhere. But you and I both know, that's way too much up keep. But if I really, really, really, LOVE it, then maybe I'll frame it.

Here, I tore the Early Bird: Cherry Pie paper by Cosmo Cricket. It was a little painful. But I did it. At first, I cut a strip and placed it on my layout. But it was not the look I exactly wanted. So that's why I tore it.

Xoxo,
Nette

Challenge #2 - cutting up pattern paper!

For me, cutting up pattern paper is hard. I have a hard time cutting up the pretty paper. And an even harder time cutting up die cut papers. Well, I was inspired by this to actually cut up my die cut pattern paper. So my challenge is real simple - do a layout cutting up those pattern papers you have in your stash :)
