Eight is Enough Challenge

Here is a picture of my supplies again: 4 patterned papers, 1 letter sticker sheet, 2 die cut sticker sheets, 1 scallop circle punch. 

1) the hat makes him invisible:

I never use black cardstock. I need to use more of it! I hand cut the stars out of one of the papers and also hand cut one of the edges. I used stickers as the journaling lines. Then I finished the page by outlining the whole layout with a white sharpie pen.

2) best dad ever:

I used the scallop circle punch to make a fun banner. I lifted the idea from Maggie Holmes (Studio Calico). Then I doodled on the scallops and around the page as well.

3) our favorite restaurant:

I hand cut the edges on the pattern paper to create the borders. I love how it turned out. 

4) sweet summer:

I created journaling lines by cutting up a border sticker. The left over banners were placed in a circle to make the flower in the bottom right corner. I lifted that idea off from the Jenni Bowlin site.

There you have it! I did my best to try and not over think the process. It took me 3 days to make all these layouts. That is with  me working during the day and just scrapping in the evenings. This challenge totally made me think of ways to use my supplies in different ways. I now have a much better appreciation of all my border punches :)  Can't wait to see what you guys come up! xoxo

Eight is Enough Challenge!

Hello scrappy ladies! It's been way tooooooooo long since there has been any activity on this scrap blog. It's my turn to come up with a challenge. I am currently doing this challenge at the Studio Calico blog and am having so much fun with it that I wanted us all to do it :)

Here we go: use eight supplies to scrap 4 layouts. Choose patterned paper, punches, ribbon, stamps, etc. You decide but you must only use 8 supplies. (Hint - choose double sided pattern papers to get more out of it).

The rules: No shopping allowed - use your scrap stash. Cardstock, adhesive, pens, fonts, inks/mists, staples, sewing machine, Slice are considered freebies.

My eight supplies came from old Studio Calico kits. They are 4 patterned papers, letter sticker sheet, 2 die cut sticker sheets and a scallop circle punch.

I went even further to push myself to go out of the box by NOT choosing any butterflies or flowers. I KNOW! I wanted to challenge myself to do more "boyish" colors since I always tend to do pink stuff. I'm done with 2 of the 4 layouts. Can't wait to share them here with you all!

Week in the Life

I know we are all participating in Ali's Week in the Life.  I just wanted to say that I'm so happy we all decided to do this!  Now that the pictures & documenting are done, it's time to put it together. Let's support each other during this process. From my past experience, this is actually the hardest part - making time to get it done and completed. There is no right or wrong way. You can document one picture a day with a little journaling and that is just as fabulous. Go Team "All things Scrap!"

ok, seriously? i've been out of it (you all know) and now i'm looking at all these amazing lo's and now i don't want to, lol! you gals are SO darn amazing. and inspirational. and SO on top of it. rub off on me, will you! it's my quarterly resolution to get these pages up. hopefully this weekend *crossing fingers*.

Sewing Challenge

For this challenge, I decided to try my hand at sewing yo-yo flowers. It's always something I've wanted to do but thought it was too hard. Was I wrong!  Yo-yo flowers are so easy to make! I used this tutorial from Studio Calico and also used a sketch from the site to come up with this layout:

Who said you can't use flowers on a layout about boys? Seriously, I can't believe how easy it was to make these. I just journaled random thoughts of how Vince started his day that day.  Thanks Nette for prompting me to get out the fabric I bought over a year ago :)

I started this page a while back. It was actually in the summer. But I finally printed a photograph for it. I noticed it needed something else around the journaling part. And since my sewing machine wast out, I just sewed around it. I also added a teal colored button too. Much better, indeed!

Lil Cupcake

This year we celebrated Valentine's Day with cupcakes from Influx in Golden Hills. Perfecto as Fiona would say (Dora the Explorer influence)! These photos were taken from my cell phone. Not the best quality but I really wanted to scrap Fiona's silly expressions just before she devoured her cupcake.

"Sew" In Love Challenge

Recently, I busted out my sewing machine and made Fiona a stuffed animal. We named her Eloise. I blanket stitched, embroidered, used pretty purple pearl-esque buttons, wool felt, and fabric scraps. It took awhile but I finally finished. It just reminded me of scrapping--using all the various techniques,tools, and supplies. Very similar.

For this challenge, you can be as creative as you want! Your page can have anything sewing inspired. Use ruffles,ric-rac, hand-stitches, sewing machine, buttons, fabric, or even draw dashes to make it look like sewing. Like this
